Winning takes talent. To repeat it takes character.— John Wooden
John Wooden was an American basketball player and coach, who lived to the ripe old age of 99. He won 10 NCAA championships in 12 years, including seven in a row. He knew what it takes to win… and to win again.Choosing the name ProHeroes was a conscious, yet straightforward, decision. Every day, we work with sportsmen who aspire to become Heroes, or have already reached this legendary status through a lifetime of hard work and determination.
For us, a Hero is defined not only by his talent, but also by certain values, characteristics and behavioural sets. The Heroes we proudly serve – players, athletes and coaches — are courageous, yet they embody humility and moral integrity. And, we work with them to inspire others.
It takes courage to aim high and to exceed expectations. The bravest amongst us enjoy competition, embrace challenges, and are not afraid of surmounting obstacles. They relentlessly pursue their own paths, and are always open to trying new things in pursuit of perfection.
In a similar vein, we encourage our clients to be courageous enough to take the right decisions for their careers, and for their lives beyond sport. We embolden them to always take the highest path – even if it might not be the easiest one.
The All Blacks, the national rugby team of New Zealand, are one of the most successful sporting institutions of all time. And yet, despite their justifiably fearsome reputation, they define humility as one of their core values. They know that being respectful is a strength and not a weakness.
Our Heroes are humble enough to be students of success. A real sporting Hero knows that humility is the key to continuous, day-by-day improvement. Excellence is a process of evolution, of cumulative learning and of incremental advancement. There is no growth without humility.
Wherever there is success, there is the potential for corruption, and football is no different. Young footballers face an array of temptations, but the very best are able to keep their eye on the ball…and on the prize. At ProHeroes, we believe in fair play and clean competition, in doing things the right way, regardless of who is watching. On the pitch, in the locker room or at the negotiation table, moral integrity is central to our success.
We are in it to win it. So are our Heroes.
Together, we are aiming for victory… guided by our moral compass.
